Hello! I am Ms. Alderson and I am one of the 4th grader teachers here at Rose Hill. I am so excited to work with you and your child. It’s going to be a year full of fun and lots of learning. I can’t wait to see what the year has in store for us. I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.

I have been teaching at Rose Hill since 2013. I have taught 4th grade, English as a Second Language, and then went back to teaching 4th grade again. I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Elementary Education. I then went on to get my Master’s Degree in ESL and Reading.

My hobbies include exercising, reading, watching sports, and visiting my friends and family.  I love 4th grade and am excited to get started with another year! As your child’s teacher, I am committed to helping your child get the best education possible.  If there is anything that I can do to help, do not hesitate to let me know.

Daily Homework Routines:

Each day your child will bring home their assignment notebook. They will have their homework written in it for that day. After students complete their homework, please sign their assignment notebook. Students are expected to get that signed and returned to school each day. Here is our weekly homework schedule:

Study Spelling Words (Students get a new list sent home each Monday and are tested on their Spelling lists on Fridays)

Read 20 minutes (Later in the year this will increase to 30 minutes, and a Reading log will go home as well)

Practice Math Facts (each student has a set of Addition/Subtraction flash cards, and a set of Multiplication/Division flashcards they should be using to practice)

*Occasionally students will have a Math Practice page or a Reading Passage (If they do, it will be written in their assignment notebooks and will replace Read 20 minutes, or Math fact practice for that day)
